Do You Know Where Your Heart Lives

Today I woke up to the whistle of a train

 fading deep into the night

There’s static on the radio
The kind that doesn’t want to let go

Bitter clinger trying to find that sound

I don’t run off cliffs

Romanticising what ifs

Or thinking long on yesterdays

Life keeps moving on

But tonight something’s wrong

In my feelings-hit me a different way

Bridge

I’m looking out the window

The lights flickering on the water

The sounds of the night

fill this empty room

I can hear my heartbeat
0-1-2-3
Breathe in

It’s so bittersweet

The memories

flooding me

like a storm

It’s 3 AM!

Do you know where your heart is

Has pain taken it hostage

Can you feel it so

And in the end

Whose taking the tally

For all the times that you hurt me

I’d love to know

That in the hollow of the quiet
Does your peace start a riot

Reminding you of all the stones you throw

It’s 3AM!

Do you know where your heart lives
Do you know where your heart lives
Do you know

II

Today I woke up to the whistle of a train

 fading deep into the light

There’ was smoke

Rising from the streets

Ashes where we use to be

And I smiled
And said it’s about damn time

It’s 3AM!

Do you know where your heart lives
Do you know where your heart lives
Do you know
