HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! :)

If you are looking for a reason to over indulge and bask in the wonderful glow of love, then this is your day. But who needs an excuse lol! Just make sure you compensate for the indiscretions in your work out. :) It's been a very busy year, so far as I have my hands in several passion projects like authoring a book, a screenplay draft, a game writeup, and of course music. Hold me accountable! I'll keep you posted on how far I get w/ all of these cool stretches. Yes, stretches because all of these passion projects require impeccable time management and intentional actions. You really learn alot about what you truly value when you set what seems like impossible goals.
We've also been receving several requests for festivals this year, which is great. We're taking a closer look to see where YOU are to help us make informed decisions. And, if it makes sense to say yes to some of the opportunities then we will. Some of the artists I enjoy listening to are road warriors. They play everywhere, bless their heart. Our playbook is a bit more discerning as time availability is key.
With that being said, I wamted to take a moment to share my new single here. It will land on streaming platforms soon. Meanwhile, you can enjoy it on my website. It's one of the few songs I've written that doesn't have a backstory per se. Something Special (Radio Edit) was based on my grandparents. Merry Christmas From The Pieces was inspired by my divorce, and so on and so forth.
Doing Love With You is at best a synthesized compilation of the best times I, and others close to me have experienced while in love. There are a couple of strong themes I wanted to highlight. One of the primary themes in the song is to enjoy life. With so much going on in the world, not worrying can seem impossible. It is important to stay plugged in, but its even more critical to enjoy your time with loved ones. You should not let what's going on in the world stop you from reveling in the beautiful moments you spend w/ humans you care about. The line:
"The world's on tilt, and we're looking at the sparrows"
Underscores that sentiment. As does
Near or faraway You're my holiday..
Doing Love W/ You also touches on the different needs in a relationship. Sometimes,
humans just want to feel close to someone they know loves and cares about them. The other person in the relationship might just love and appreciate their company, time and attention. The following lines showcase this train of thought
You taught me things I never knew
You like being by my side
and I like the view
Communication is so important in any type of relationship. Never assuming someone is in the same headspace as you can go a long way towards a positive outcome. It's okay to have different needs in partnership, you just have to make sure you voice them and are transparent. Never string someone along. Not cool and there's no need for it.
Many of you know I have a penchant for vintage meanderings. As such, I slipped a ye olde (See what I did there? :)) word some of you have never heard in the following line
I love the way you woo
The word "Woo" has been around since 1050 AD. Generally speaking, it meant to court or romance a prospective partner/love. Sometime in the 1800's, Pitch was added, which means to talk or convincingly sell. It kind of makes sense in the context of endearing yourself to someone by the way you talk to the person. I've also seen pitching woo used
when someone is a phenomenal athlete, entertainer or public speaker. They pitch woo to the audience. In my song Doing Love W/ You I'm saying I like the way he romances me.
There's also a strong anticipation theme which is clearly evident in this line
You're taking me on a sweet ride
I'm bushy tailed and bright eyed
Anticipating more pleasant moments. You love spending time with the person, and can't wait to see what's next. Even, if you are not coupled right now, you can always be bright eyed and bushy tailed about your romantic future. Love songs should make us fall in love with love. Your Prince Charming or Fair Lady may be one event away, who knows!
If you like sweet retro piano led love songs, you'll probably like Doing Love W/ You. It's intentionally stripped down with no embellishments. I wanted the focus to be on the lyrics this Valentine's Day and every day for that matter. Love never goes out of style. Love is probably the most powerful emotion on planet earth. When its true, authentic and respected
it can help you overcome almost anything.
