When we read "Radio Edit" we often think that the song was shortened for radio. Sometimes it can mean that the song's lyrics were cleaned up due to explicit language or references. Well, none of these reasons are the case w/ the radio version of Something Special, which is soon to be released. The radio edit was due to a deep desire to focus more on the lyrics of the song that are so beautiful and inspiring to me. Something Special-Radio Edit features an organic acoustic feel that is understated enough for you to really hear the lyrics in the song. I've always been a big fan of nylon guitars due to their smooth warm resonant sound and they are featured more prominently in the Something Special-Radio Edit. The upright bass just pulls everything together.

The lyrics did slightly change in the radio edit. When I originally wrote the song, I wrote it from my Grandfather's perspective. When I started working on a new arrangement of the song for radio, I realized that my grandmother's voice needed to be heard too. Since the song is not about them as individuals, but as a couple that stand up to those that don't agree w/ their marriage, it made sense to change the focus to "we" instead of "I". I was also curious about what sounds/vibes an analyzer tool would pick up from Something Special.

As you can see the top two vibes were romantic and chill. I think I can live w/ that.
