Thanks to everyone that has checked out my debut single. Something Special. When you start to see other parts of the world it can sometimes highlight what is truly important. As such, I started thinking about what it means to be a #Sunsetter. Sure, it's a fun way to describe the people that vibe w/ my music, but it is really more than that. You can like my music and not be a #Sunsetter. I think I'm a great example of the point I'm trying to make. I love old music! Seriously, most of the music i listen to predates my parents lol.. I also like new country, AC, Rap/hip hop, Ambient, Classical and the list goes on and on. I even like some of the late Jimmy Buffet's music like Come Monday, but I would not go as far as calling myself a Parrothead. The Grateful Dead's Sugar Magnolia is among my favorite especially the harmonies on the song and it is a lot of fun to dance to. However, I would not necessarily call myself a Deadhead.
See what I mean? When you think of those endearing terms that describe a fandom, they not only describe the music, but the culture that goes along w/ it. Deadheads were known to be part of the counterculture, and a bit nomadic back when the band was touring. Fans would crerate mini communities/communes and follow the band from town to town wow. Parrotheads were a bit more mainstream. They were known for a laid back lifestyle favoring the beach and a fun forget about work environment.
It really made me think about what is a #Sunsetter? What does that even mean? Based on my lifestyle and the people I've connected w/ at shows, so far, we seem to center at least an evening a week to watching the sun set and/or rise. Often, it's with a group of friends and sometimes it's by ourselves reflecting. A glass of wine and passionate conversations about music, film, poetry and vintage classics.
Being a Sunsetter is definitely a vibe, a lifestyle that you live and/or seek. It's about slowing down, taking in the beauty around you. Connecting w/ people that feel the same way, and making lasting memories. I often pause and ask myself, "How will I look back on this? " That helps clear the cobwebs and refocuses my efforts to what truly matters. I've been working on creating products and service that reflect the #Sunsetters vibe for my Shopify store. The cover for this post is my first foray into defining the lifestyle. You can grab the limited edition print on canvas and framed here.
I would love to read your thoughts on your version of the Sunsetter lifestyle. How do you slow down and take in the beauty around you? Do you find it hard to find the time to just chill or is it part of your weekly schedule? Don't forget to check out my shop. I add new merch ever week. If you are an artist, I would love to partner w/ you for future designs. Just drop a link to your portfolio in a chat message. You can find the chat messenger at the bottom right hand side of this page. I hope everyone's day is filled w/ love and light.
